How do I Request cookies?
Please use the "Quote Request" button in the upper right-hand corner of this website. If there are photos you'd like to send, you can email me at playingwithdough@gmail.com, This will provide me what I need to provide you a quote. Unless my schedule is full, I'll hold a spot in my calendar for you for 24 hours, to allow you time to send the deposit. Once I receive the deposit, I will send you a confirmation. Note that I am frequently booked out 4 weeks or more so please place your order early :).
Do you decorate on anything besides sugar cookies?
Although Vanilla is the most popular, I offer Chocolate sugar cookies, Honey Graham, Brown Sugar Toffee, Orange Spice, Red Velvet, Chocolate Chip, Funfetti, and seasonally Pumpkin Spice and Gingerbread… and I can use Gluten Free flour with any except Honey Graham (additional fee)! Some flavors are a little extra due to ingredient cost, so see the Quote Request form for details.
You can order 1 different flavor per 2 dozen of cookies!
I also make several chocolate dipped treats to coordinate with your cookies, as well as cupcakes and Classic Cookies!
What are your prices and how many designs can I get?
My prices are based upon my estimated (or known) time to do the cookie designs… mixing dough, cutting, baking, mixing each icing color and consistency, and then decorating all take time. As a result, the amount of detail, the number of colors/consistencies of icing needed, if gold or silver hand-painting is needed, if the shapes need to be custom cut all impact the time and price. Hand decorated cookies are very labor intensive! I don’t charge for my time to acquire cutters or ingredients, respond to emails, take photos, etc.
For logos, photographs and realistic tiny details, I also can print on my cookies, frequently in conjuction with hand-applied details! This is a similar look to airbrushing (which have been on my site for years), but enables much more detail and color :) Completely FDA approved and just as delicious!
For my minimum of two dozen cookies, 4 different designs is most common, using a set of 3-4 colors. However there is no maximum number of designs, it just will impact price a little if the designs are highly custom/detailed.
Prices start at $66/dozen for 3-3.5" cookies with simple to moderately detailed designs and 3-4 colors, with a minimum order of 2 dozen. More detailed cookies (for example, Calvin & Hobbes cartoons, Just Married Car or Paw Patrol) can reach $8 or more each.
Note that cookies are 1/4" thick, except for cookie pops/cookie bouquets which are 3/8" thick.
How do I pay for the cookies?
Payment in full is required for orders of $250 or less to confirm your order; for orders over $250 a 50% deposit is required. For most orders, any balance is due two weeks prior to your scheduled pickup/delivery, otherwise your cookies will not be started. For orders of $500 or more, final payment is due 30 days in advance.
I prefer Zelle (playingwithdough@gmail.com not phone#). or if using Venmo or PayPal (playingwithdough@gmail.com) please use the “payments between friends” or avoid the goods and services option.. Otherwise on Venmo or PayPal, or using a credit card please add on a 5% fee to your quote (multiply by 1.05). To use a credit card, I can now create a link and send in email or text where you can pay (note there is a 5% fee still) If you are ordering two months or more in advance I also accept checks.
My cancellation policy for orders of $500 or less is:
- with 30 day notice, a full refund is provided less any payment fees
- with 14-29 day notice, your 50% deposit is forfeited, anything paid over that will be refunded, less payment fee or purchases specific to your order
- cancellations of less than two weeks are not refundable
Note: any processing fees are not refundable, nor are any cutters or specific decorations purchased for your order.
For large orders over $500, the timeframes above are doubled (ie refund with 60 days notice).
WHAT are my options to get the cookies?
Most people schedule a pick-up time at our home in Willow Glen. If you opt for delivery, charges are based upon distance, at $3/mile from our location near Hillsdale and Meridian in SJ, with a $20 minimum, Delivery is available on weekends or typically 11am-3pm weekdays. (Note delivery is not available to apartments or complexes, only houses.) Unfortunately, we are not able to ship however can pack for YOUR shipping! Cookies have been successfully shipped to NY and Texas that I know of!
How are the cookies packaged?
The cookies come in a window bakery box. If you'd like cookies in individual cello bags and heat sealed, there is a charge of $3.50/dozen. If you'd like all cookies individually wrapped with ribbon for favors, there is an charge of $5/dozen (coordinating ribbon color). For gifts or favors, I can get individual clear or window boxes to fit your individual cookies in white, kraft brown, or possibly other colors! I charge you only my cost for these little boxes.
What ingredients are in the cookies?
All of our cookies are made with high quality, natural ingredients including flour, eggs, butter, cane sugar; and for vanilla, real vanilla, and a little lemon zest. If you need more specifics or other flavors, just let me know :) There are nuts in our household, however let me know if there are any nut allergies related to your order, and I can ensure there is no cross-contamination. Option of gluten-free is available for most flavors.
Do you DO parties or Classes?
Yes! Discover your inner cookie artist by hosting a virtual or in-person cookie decorating party or class at your home or venue! An event that is sure to be memorable for children ages 8 and over, as well as adults! Minimally 3 weeks notice is needed. Please click on the link for more info!
